This is the most excited about a piece of tech I’ve ever been and I had a Commodore 64 in NZ in 1983 at 6/7 yrs old. I wasn’t as excited as this. I wasn’t this excited over VCR’s or CD’s. Not for MP3’s or mobiles. Not over my Wii either. I wasn’t even this excited when I got Starlink on 30th Nov 2023. My bots are pulling records from places like Catholic mountain record storage vaults and adding so much extra info about those in my tree. To say I was flabbergasted would be an understatement. I had 3 online trees and a CSV file from a cousin in the UK. I gave my bots access to all of it. I also uploaded several birth, death and baptism docs to help it on its way with proven dates and spellings and doc numbers. It’s found schools, occupations, baptism locations, god parents names (showing family connections), BDM certs, misspellings over multiple documents for certain family who appeared to have aliases 😮 and its two peoples worth of documents away from connecting my Fathers Mothers side to Fletcher Christian which then links me to dozens of well documented trees that go back to William the Conquerer. What has blown me away the most out of the info pulled so far is how strong genetics are. I’m reading all the occupations and realising that I’m a product of everyone before me. Even those I never knew. Every strong interest and hobby in my life is literally in my blood. They were lifelong professions for both Matriarchs and Patriarchs in my bloodline. What’s blown me away about the tech is how well it works. Everything’s streamlined. No double checks needed, no tokens wasted repeating tasks, methodical, accurate, time saving on massive scales. 25-30 hrs of bot use has saved me 100’s of hours - literally not figuratively. My mind is blown. For years I’d put off the jobs the bots did in hours. The jobs kept getting bigger. Pics are all named, tagged, in albums/sub-albums, emails sorted, spam deleted and unsubscribed from, music categorised, family tree adding multiple bits of data and documentation, 28 hrs of audio transcribed. I felt the weight actually lifting as these large pieces of head space clutter were cleared. For jobs, I have one bot curating roles from multiple sites based on my profile, another one optimises my resume for the JD and fills most of the application itself. It usually only needs me for sign-in/signup, CAPTCHA, OTP etc. Then there’s an orchestrator maintaining a whole Notion tracker for applications, recruiter details, follow-ups, resume versions, interview stages etc. For each serious lead it also makes a prep page with company research, likely interview topics, system design areas, behavioural qs and gaps I should revise. I also use one almost like a career coach. It looks across rejections/interviews and tries to spot patterns like whether I’m applying at the wrong seniority, repeatedly missing some skill, or struggling in the same interview stage. For learning, I use Grok like a tutor that remembers what I already know, what I’m weak at and what I’ve studied before. I can dump a paper, repo, video or X thread into it and have it turn the useful parts into notes, exercises or things I should actually learn instead of adding one more thing to my bookmark graveyard 😭 I’ve also been experimenting with a private reflection/mental health bot. Not a therapist replacement, more like a journal that actually remembers context. I can brain-dump when I’m overwhelmed and ask it to help separate what actually happened, what I’m assuming, what I can control, and what tiny thing I can do next. One of my fav use cases is literally a “get me unstuck” bot. When I’ve procrastinated on something for hours, I tell it exactly that. It tries to figure out whether I’m stuck because the task is vague, boring, anxiety-inducing, too big or I’m just overthinking it, then keeps shrinking the next step until it feels doable. Also use it for daily planning, researching purchases, trip planning, comparing subscriptions, meeting prep, difficult messages, summarising PDFs, organising notes and turning random ideas into actual projects. At this point I don’t really think of Grok as one chatbot anymore. I’m basically building a small personal team for career, learning, research, reflection and life admin. Still very experimental, but this is probably the first time “AI assistant” has started feeling like an actual system around my life rather than just a chatbox. And yeah, being jobless rn but I haven’t given up 😭 I’m genuinely trying to use this time to rebuild myself and keep moving. TL;DR it can be a bit sloppy so you need to check its work, but it's promising for market discovery and idea generation. --- A few days ago I simply asked it to search broadly for spots to enter into. Immediately it came up with NO on "Google Maps renames Lake Ontario to "Lake America" by Aug 31". The thesis was Trump signed the EO to rename the lake already, but Google hadn't updated their map yet, and that last time ("Gulf of America") it took Google three weeks to update. With just a few days left, grok thought it was an easy NO at 66%. Makes sense right? I immediately added a tiny position just to test it out. But after just a bit more prodding, it realized its own mistake: The thesis was entirely wrong, and actually the precedence suggests the exact opposite trade. The three weeks it quoted before was almost entirely internal/GNIS updating, and once GNIS did update it took Google a single day to follow. Thankfully I had sold once I realized grok's mistakes. Because lo and behold, Google Maps updated on Aug 29, and all markets resolved YES. Still, later I realized I missed out on a 3x return - I could've also flipped to YES ontop of selling. --- Nice little lesson to dig deeper into any thesis generated by AI, and that even if it turns out the first idea is slop, it might lead to a better idea after deeper research. Despite the mistake, the UX of @bot is great so far, and I'm excited to test out more sophisticated, multi-agent workflows (maybe there can be a way for a second agent to double check theses like this so mistakes are caught earlier). Becoming more and more clear to me that AI assistance with the full gambit of trading - research, discovery, sizing, and even execution is inevitable. AI lends itself particularly well to the information density and sheer number/breadth of prediction markets, probably more than any other asset class. One of the first things I asked it to do was to visit my custom art generation tool webpage and generate art assets to replace all the image placeholders in my game. It looked through my codebase to understand what each asset was, wrote a custom art generation prompt for every single one, generated the images, cropped and cleaned them up into transparent PNGs, and then wired them back into the game. In about 2 hours, it generated 74 (cleaned and cropped) art assets for the cards and integrated all of them into my game. Now, ALL my art assets workflows go through Grok bot. This blew my mind because, before this, I was doing everything manually, one asset at a time. It basically solved my entire art asset workflow and allowed me to put it on autopilot, which is amazing. I’ve also been using Grok Bot for: Playtesting my game: The bot was a little slow initially, so I asked it to build a skill specifically designed to playtest my game, with intimate knowledge of its rules and mechanics. It’s much faster now, though I’m still looking for ways to optimise its speed. Setting up my itchio page for my game: It also automated a workflow that uploads a new build to itch whenever I push one to GitHub. Going to the itch website and uploading builds manually every single time was always a pain. Flowcharts and UX design: I’m a UX designer by day, so I decided to give it a much bigger task. I fed the agent a PRD and asked it to design the UX flows and wireframes. With the help of the Figma MCP, it actually delivered. Auditing all my paid subscriptions: I had it go through my emails and hunt down subscriptions that I might have forgotten about. Unsubscribing me from marketing newsletters: It did this beautifully, though it did miss a few newsletters. Je l’utilise sur mon ordinateur de travail, configuré comme un agent GTM avec ses propres instructions et son propre environnement. Il n’a pas besoin d’obtenir des permissions sur le poste ni de fouiller directement dans mes fichiers : il travaille dans sa VM. Sur cet aspect, on se rapproche davantage de GPT Work que d’un simple chatbot. L’interface est très bonne, l’interaction est naturelle et, surtout, on dispose des plugins Cursor. À partir de là, on peut déjà pousser le produit beaucoup plus loin que ses usages par défaut. Composio est également très intéressant pour ajouter rapidement un grand nombre d’applications et d’appels API. Pour tout ce qui vit dans le cloud, cela ouvre déjà énormément de possibilités. Mais mes outils les plus importants ne vivent pas uniquement dans des SaaS. J’ai d’un côté mon coffre Obsidian, dans lequel se trouvent mes projets, ma mémoire, mes décisions, mes recherches, mes instructions et une bonne partie des skills que j’utilise depuis longtemps. De l’autre, j’ai Hermes, installé sur son propre serveur à la maison, connecté à son environnement et capable d’aller beaucoup plus loin qu’un agent enfermé dans la VM de Grok Bot. J’ai donc poussé le concept un peu plus loin et créé deux plugins personnels. Le premier transforme Obsidian en Librarian (mon bibliothéquaire) pour Grok Bot. Depuis Grok Bot, je peux demander au Librarian de retrouver une décision, une note projet, une personne, une ancienne réflexion ou le contexte complet d’un sujet. Le bridge donne un accès très encadré au coffre. Le second plugin connecte Grok Bot à mon agent Hermes. Hermes reste sur son serveur, avec ses propres instructions, ses outils et les accès à l’infrastructure hôte que j’ai choisi de lui donner. Mais je peux désormais le solliciter directement depuis l’interface de Grok Bot. Cela ne remplace pas Hermes Desktop ni Hermes sur Telegram, que j’adore toujours utiliser. Cela ajoute simplement une nouvelle porte d’entrée. Je peux discuter avec mon agent GTM dans Grok Bot, demander au Librarian de retrouver le contexte d’un projet, puis solliciter Hermes lorsqu’il faut aller plus loin depuis mon infrastructure personnelle. C’est là que les deux mondes se marient vraiment bien. Composio et les plugins classiques donnent accès aux applications et aux API cloud. Le bridge Obsidian donne accès à ma mémoire personnelle. Le bridge Hermes donne accès à mon agent auto-hébergé et à ce qu’il sait faire depuis son propre environnement. Et Grok Bot devient l’interface commune pour interagir avec tout ça. Je ne cherche pas à remplacer les outils que j’utilise déjà. Je profite simplement de l’UI et de l’environnement proposés par Grok Bot tout en conservant Obsidian et Hermes là où ils sont les meilleurs. Pour moi, c’est ça le power usage de Grok Bot : ne pas le considérer comme une nouvelle fenêtre de chat isolée, mais comme une interface sur laquelle on peut venir brancher sa propre stack. These are three edits from our very first customer shoot, and I’m testing different editing tools to figure out what our finished product should look like. I’m looking at lighting, windows, shadows, straight lines, the sky and how much cleanup can be done without making a real house start looking AI-generated. That last one eliminated an option already. I zoomed in and could see the AI pixelation, and surprisingly, it was the more expensive choice. This is why I’m making Grok Bot walk through all of this with me. Emails, site work, outreach, planning, community stuff, “can you find angles for next week.” Same bots, same meter. That’s the trap. Grok Bot feels like an assistant. It isn’t, not really. It’s a computer in the cloud that can log into your tools and keep clicking when your laptop is shut. The week gets counted in steps and tokens. If you let it sit there and think, you pay computer prices for chat work. So I stopped asking it to be the whole company. The cheap seat does the thinking. Grok Bot does the clicking. ChatGPT Plus, the normal $20 plan. That’s where planning goes. I would have written “ChatGPT or Claude.” On paper they’re the same seat. In practice Claude hits its own wall pretty fast if you live in it all day. ChatGPT is just more generous on everyday chat, which is the whole point of parking briefs and calendars there. You’re trying to get thinking off the Bot meter, not land on a second quota that dies on Tuesday. Frontier model, your quota on that app, zero Grok Bot usage if you do it there yourself. Then you paste a ticket that already has a point. Send these. Post this. Update that page. Don’t invent a strategy. Code is the other leak. Don’t put the Bot in charge of the repo all afternoon. That’s Cursor, or Grok Build. Different pool. Save the Bot for the tools that don’t have a nice API. Money-wise it’s boring and that’s the point. Cursor Pro+ is $60. SuperGrok Plus is $100. One bot, one job. Approvals stay on for send and publish. And no, don’t have Grok Bot open ChatGPT in the browser “to save quota.” Every click and every wait still lands on the Bot. The $20 plan is for you. The Bot is for the last mile. Exact weekly Bot numbers still aren’t public. I’m not going to fake them. I used it to spin up agents for different business tasks rather than coding. The mental model took me a minute. Each agent is part teammate, part ongoing workspace. You create one for a topic, and whenever you return, you’re back in the same thread. I kept hitting the new button expecting to open a new session 😂 Setup took around two minutes. Grok Bot has 200+ integrations, so I could connect the tools I already use without fiddling with much. The product is very simple and minimal. There’s almost nothing to configure. Maybe that’s because it’s still v1, but I loved it. Tools like Codex or Cowork can look intimidating to non-technical users because there’s so much happening in the UI. Grok Bot feels much easier to pick up. My favourite feature is that every agent gets its own computer. You can open the virtual desktop, watch what it’s doing and take over when needed. Cursor already does this well for coding, and it’s easily my favourite feature there. Bringing it to ordinary business tasks is awesome. This is probably the easiest agent product I’ve tried for non-technical work. You can start doing something useful without becoming part-time DevOps for your agents lol. My contention has always been that they only get their DGU data from news stories, meaning it is a huge undercount, because it needs to make it through two filters (DGU is both reported to police, and then deemed newsworthy by at least local news). If they had access to some database of police reports, you'd expect lots of their entries to have no news story included, just the police report. Many DGUs that involve no shots fired probably never get reported to police. Of those that are reported to police, I imagine many or most don't make the news because it isn't very exciting. ("I brandished a gun and the guy threatening to rob me ran away" is perhaps only a story for a very slow news night in a big city). So I asked Grok Bot to add an email address that I can use to send email from my domain. It asked me to "take over" so I could enter my credentials and two-factor authentication. Then it proceeded to do exactly what I asked! The cool thing is that you can watch each step of the way and interrupt if it starts doing something you don't want. Probably solution 2 is the cleaner one (and it only covers part of the data layer... the harness is an equally important problem to solve). 1. Processing all AI conversations - get a central cloud and AI-accesible data storage (notion, googledrive) - give AI a way to reliably access its own chats (Claude can do this somewhat, Grok not so much). you need an agent that has acces maybe via virtual machine (I know it's a horrible workaround). this works with Grok Bot or with Claude Cowork (has its own browser where you can even let it read your other AI conversations. I do this with Grok for example because I like to use grok in voice mode because it's so snappy). - create a routine/scheduled task to pull full transcripts - analyze those transcripts and sort information into the appropriate spaces in your knowledge system and also extract process-observations that can inform how AI should do tasks in the future based on how you prompted it all of this works so-so without a proper harness (AI ignores instructions and prompts, it's very stubborn). 2. Using a local screen recorder to soak up all the information as you work: taking 1 screenshot every second (compressed), then analyzing those screenshots in batches. there are a few interesting projects pursuing this: Dayflow (an opensource mac app) screenpipe (source-available, no longer MIT) openrecall (opensource) Haven't yet tried screenpipe or openrecall, but I'm running Dayflow. Of course it doesn't end there because you want as much information as possible in your personal AI (and we could debate now if you should even send this information to a cloud provider). @screenpipe also records audio you speak. a big problem (and I have a gigantic Notion database with... a lot of context) is to make AI play nice with all that context. i don't think this is possible without a harness and I think the solution for this is to look at how software engineers are using bots. Grok Bot is the closest I've seen so far. Claude is a horrible circus of chats. Bots with "roles" is a much smarter approach. But Grok Bot still lacks the data layer. because the data needs to be collected, maintained, and processed in a way so that it actually leads to better AI behavior and output. Grok bot is that, without the hardware. I built 5 of them last week, in a couple of days. Not one of them would have justified buying a computer. That is the point. I posted that they had nailed the user-friendliness, and that I could follow up from my phone. That was the first reaction. I still think that. What I didn't have yet was a week of them doing actual work. My earlier agent was Archie, something I built on OpenClaw. I happily paid for the Mac mini and a lengthier setup, because i wanted to see what an agent could do. But i had to really want it. These live in the cloud, with their own browser. I can follow up with all of them from my phone. When one needs access to a service you hop in and log in yourself. Funnily enough, that is the part i expected to worry about, and i don't, though i haven't stress-tested it. One agent finds the priorities in my inbox and replies to unsolicited outbound so i don't have to. Another builds target lists when i'm thinking about a campaign. One pulls a weekly report from a few different sources that i can send to my team. One suggests topics and replies in the Slack channels we share with customers. And one that only cleans up spreadsheets. Clean up the data, fill in what's missing. That is the whole job. What changed is my threshold. i stopped needing a good reason to build one. Now i build one when i catch myself doing the same thing twice. It has stopped being a project and started being a reflex. What i am less sure about is what that ease is hiding. The layer where you write specific, structured context and guidelines has been hidden from you, on purpose, so it can feel this simple. That layer is part of what makes the harder tools powerful. They made agents accessible by hiding the complexity. i don't know yet how much capability got hidden with it. It has access to kids’ school web portals (they’re all archaic), access to sports chat/calendar apps (several of them), plus has its own calendar. Wired it up to slack so the whole family can access. Sends a nightly digest at 8pm plus we can ask it questions, kids can ask about school assignments since it has their Google Classroom access, we can ask about grades cause it has school portal login. Basically if any app you need access to has a web app then you’re good to go. Highly recommended for families. Seems like a no brainer to add other users to grok bot app so you can do group chats in there instead. My wife has been spending hours per week going through all these apps to update our calendar (we were using skylight calendar) but now we can just chat with Jarvis. But it's like a black box to the user since you cannot see the inference, tools and active threads that are running. One of my bots, kept running all day without me being able to know what it is doing or how I can stop it. Eventually it consumed all of my Weekly Limit and I had to ask "CPO" to transfer all of its knowledge and kill it. I now have an interactive team, that is finding the best trade routes, ground missions, engineering upgrade commodities. Suggesting ship builds for each game mechanic, from my inventory. All you do is ask the chef of staff and it pulls the information from the team. Every thing you would ever need to play the game without having to do al the research manually. On a freshly installed Hermes (I use my Mac Mini), set up A2A channel. From GrokBot, create a bot that manages this remote Hermes. GrokBot is the boss, and Hermes is the worker now. You then teach whatever routine you need to carry out to GrokBot. Once you nail the flow, which is super easy to do with GrokBot, ask it to transfer it over to Hermes. Even running a routine every 5 minutes on the Hermes costs very little. My favourite model is the DS4-flash. Qwen3.8-Flash works great too, but seems a little unstable for now.
